For the month of November, we will be partnering with Compassion International to plant a church in Colombia and bring the gospel of salvation to some of the world's poorest children.
Compassion International exists as an advocate for children, to release them from their spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty, and enable them to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults. They also speak out for the needs of children in poverty to compel Christians worldwide to respond to God's call to "look after orphans and widows" (James 1:27)
Compassion Colombia recently identified a target area in need of an accessible local Christ-centered church that preaches and lives God's Word. The mother church, Iglesia Cuadrangular Berastegui Cienaga de Oro, desires to plant a church approximately 7 miles away. The church plant is in a community in the department of Córdoba. Sixty percent of the community is made up of children. The community has a strong sense of identity and is resilient. It is a community with little electricity and no access to drinking water. Access to health services is almost non-existent and children frequently suffer from gastrointestinal diseases and parasites. A church is needed to share the gospel of Christ with people who are in spiritual, physical and social poverty and to provide a better future for children.
