Matt Topete

Director of 4-5th grade

Matt Topete came to know Jesus as a child but fully surrendered his life to Christ as an adult, discovering the peace, freedom, and purpose that comes from following Him wholeheartedly. His passion is helping kids know, love, and follow Jesus while building a strong foundation in God's Word.

Matt serves as the 4th-5th Grade Director at Camarillo Community Church. He currently works as a General Manager in the automotive industry and previously served as a wildland firefighter and member of a helicopter crew, helping protect communities and natural resources throughout California. Through each season of life, God has grown in him a heart for leadership, service, and caring for others. His experiences have taught him the value of teamwork, servant leadership, and remaining calm under pressure, lessons that continue to shape his ministry today.

Matt and his wife, Heatherly, have four children and love being involved in the life of the church. When he's not serving in ministry, you can usually find him spending time with his family, camping, working out, enjoying the outdoors, or cheering on his favorite sports teams. Matt is grateful for every opportunity to serve the next generation and point them toward a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ.

4th & 5th Grade Ministry

4th and 5th Ministry is a new and focused ministry for CamCC. We are putting an effort to make sure that children at this age start to feel like church is a place that belongs to them. We frame our Sundays with their needs and wants in mind. We want them to leave knowing that there is a place where they will always be welcome. Our goal is to have a fun and safe environment that encourages biblical teaching.

Sundays at 9am

Check-in is upstairs in front of room 203

You can find us every Sunday at 9am and 1045am upstairs in room 203. We want the room to be inviting to all 4th and 5th graders; we have an art table, a board game table, video games, and students who are looking to have fun! We also go outside for an exciting group game before we come back inside and start our message time. Our messages are simple and concise with one main point for the 4th and 5th graders to focus on. There is a huge treasure chest filled with candy and trinkets for students who answer questions that are based on our message time.

Outreach events

Four times a year, we have events outside of our normal Sunday gatherings. We like to get creative with these events and do something the 4th and 5th graders don’t normally get to do such as ice blocking, kiddie pool kickball, giant nerf wars, and even turning the church into an escape room! These events are more than just fun nights; they also serve as an easy way for students to invite their non-believing friends to church. We always end our night with a gospel message and an invitation to join us on Sundays.
