Connecting to God Through Prayer
There is the atheist "just in case" prayer (couldn't hurt, right?), and there's the
fox hole prayer, and the old standby, "emergency prayer."If you would like to pray for others in their time of emergency, call Natalia Klugman at 384-8501 or email dklugman@adelphia.net.
What makes people who have not cultivated the habit of regular prayer, pray?
Now, Christians pray. I mean, we really know about prayer, right? We know it unleashes
the power of God. We know that when we pray, things start to happen. And we know what the Bible says about the importance of praying.
So, just between me and you: how's it going for you? If you're like most Christians,
you just said, "Not as much as I'd like to."
So, what stops us?
Well, we're busy. We don’t have time to pray. Life crowds in, threatening to drown out any small voice of beckoning us to God's always present throne. He wants us to draw into
His presence, but so much draws us away too. Chances are, you can't create more time.
We all have the same 24 hours to work with.
The key to regular prayer is to cultivate the habit. You make it a priority and then
show up. God meets you where you are.
Why Pray?
Prayer is many things:
- connecting
- praising
- confessing
- warfare
- protection
- solace
- comfort
- reassurance
- strength
So, really, when you truly begin to understand the power and benefits of prayer, the question then becomes, "Why would you not pray?" How about now?!
